PHIL 331 - Ancient Philosophy

Recommended prior course work: PHIL 100 . An introduction to the main topics of ancient philosophy in the Western tradition and a survey of its development from the Pre-Socratic through the classical schools of the Academy and Lyceum and beyond. Covers texts and thinkers such as Pre-Socratic philosophers (e.g. Thales, Anaximander, Heraclitus, Parmenides or others), Socrates, Plato, Aristotle and issues in the schools of the Skeptics, Stoics or Epicureans. May also include ancient philosophy in Eastern traditions, examining figures such as Confucius, Mencius or Zhuangzi.
