ATH 929 - Concussion in SportsCredits: 3 Be introduced to sport concussions: brain anatomy; causes of concussions; what happens to the brain when someone sustains a concussion; sign and symptoms; short and long-term effects associated with concussions; review of different concussion assessment/evaluation tools; examination of return-to-play protocols; how to prevent concussions; treatment and rehabilitation of individuals who have sustained concussions; concussions in professional sport; and current trends and research on concussions. Successful completion of this course leads to certification of completion by the National Federation of High School Associations (NFHS) in Concussion in Sports.
