ELA 906 - Emergent Literacy (prek - 1)Credits: 3 Discover intriguing ways to increase Preschool, Kindergarten and First Grade student learning. Emergent Literacy is a review of the research, related activities, and learning strategies for building literacy in the young learner. Through the course text, Emergent Literacy in Kindergarten students are given the opportunity to review research which addresses the Oral and Written Register and Development of Reading Comprehension, Phonological Processing, and Writing Applications of the research under review are presented through a variety of lessons and a collection of Classroom Learning Games. Direct ties to Language Arts content standards are made throughout the text and course assignments. The course can be completed with or without classroom student participation.
