EDU 920 - Using Literature to Teach Mathematics

Credits: 3
Have you wondered how to capture the excitement of children's literature for the purpose of teaching mathematics? A great story can become a springboard for teaching or reinforcing a mathematical concept. Learn how the linking of mathematics and literacy effectively enhances children's learning. Ideas and sample lessons will enable you to design and teach activities appropriate for K-6 grade levels. The interdisciplinary approach in this course and assignments are built upon the principles and standards of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the National Council of Teachers of English and the International Reading Assn. May be completed with or without students.

NOTE: Required textbook must be purchased separately.
