This course has been specially designed to help teachers of primary children establish a classroom that is supportive of an active, meaning-based approach to the teaching and learning of mathematics. Designed for K-1 teachers, using the book, Math Time, by Kathy Richardson, students explore a complete guide to scheduling, organizing and planning child-centered and appropriate math experiences. Using the child-centered theme of The Gingerbread Man each lesson is directly tied to specific national math standards through a theme approach.
