EDUC 922 - Understanding Student Communication

This class will introduce some skill sets that can be acquired and used in becoming an effective communicator with students, parents, and colleagues, increasing a teacher's ability to make significant connections with everyone. Many of the tools discussed in this class are not usually taught in a typical teacher training program, but once recognized and practiced can make a huge difference for anyone's effectiveness in their professional career and private life. Data gathered from professional researchers at Stanford University to the question ""What are the characteristics of an effective teacher?"" places communication and clarity at the top of the list. Effective teachers have learned from others or taught themselves the necessary ""skill sets"" in order to be successful communicators with their students.
