COUN 759 - Psychobiology and PsychopharmacologyCredits: 0.5 This course is intended for non-medical and counseling professionals. It provides a basic introduction to psychobiology and it explores the clinical use of psychopharmacologic agents, including their indications, expected benefits and adverse effects. It also reviews their use in conjunction with, and in light of, known efficacy of nonpharmacologic interventions in the treatment of mental disorders. The broader social context in which medications are prescribed as well as skills involved in working in multidisciplinary teams that include medical personnel are also explored.
