SPEC 609 - Special Education: Assessment and IEPs

This course addresses the legal and ethical practices of special education assessments and Individualized Education Program documents that delineate a Free Appropriate Public Education in the Least Restrictive Environment. The candidate will utilize case studies to administer assessments, analyze and evaluate student data, and write legally defensible IEPs. Fieldwork in a special education setting required. IEP elements of practice include present levels of functional performance, goals and benchmarks, and progress monitoring.
