SPEC 612 - Curriculum and Technology for Mild Moderate

Credits 4
Candidates for the education specialist credential in the Mild Moderate Support Needs learn to access and adapt the general education core curriculum for special education students. The course includes instructional practices covering the range of high incidence disability categories as well as Traumatic Brain Injury and Orthopedic Impairment from the low incidence disability categories. The curriculum development and implementation practices include Universal Design for Learning, curriculum theory, learning theory, co-teaching practices and instructional methods for linguistically and culturally diverse students. In addition, this course introduces and applies new knowledge in the areas of technology.  Students are expected to Incorporate technology into their lessons including Assistive Technology tools. Provides support to candidates during their practicum course work.
