PPS 747 - School Based Practicum Experience: Dual Program

This course consists of practicum level fieldwork in California schools under the supervision of a credentialed PPS school psychologist/counselor. Practicum is minimum of 400 hours in a school placement. Candidates are provided individualized and supervised field experiences that give them an opportunity to practice skills described in their current coursework. Emphasis is placed on successful completion of professional competencies, development of interpersonal skills, appropriate professional conduct, and demonstration of the candidate's continuing development of theory, skills and knowledge related to the responsibilities of a school psychologist and school counselor. Successful completion of practicum may take more than 200 hours in a semester. Candidates will be given more time if the required skills are not demonstrated successfully. This course is designed to meet the SPPE/SCPEs of the Dual candidates seeking certification as both the school counselor and school psychologist. This replaces PPP 748 Practicum Level Fieldwork in School Psych I (1 unit) and PPC 741 Field Experience in School Counseling 2 (3 units). Proof of liability insurance is required.
May not be audited. Repeatable for credit. May need more than one semester to complete.
