SPEC 684 - Special Education and General Education Fieldwork

Credits 4
In this course, candidates will have planned experiences and/or interactions that reflect the full diversity of grades/ages, federal disability categories and the continuum of special education services outlined in the specific credential authorization, which include experiences with parents and families, and experiences with a broad range of service delivery options (experiences may include any school, agency, or program as defined in Education Code Sections 56031). Candidates will observe teachers both in general education and special education settings, using productive routines and effective transitions for students' academic and socio-emotional growth and development and observe how personnel organize and supervise the work of other adults. Candidates will teach in and reflect on those experiences in experienced mentor teacher classrooms and will specifically address one or more of the teaching standards. These early field experiences will include co-planning, co-teaching, and guided teaching and will occur in special education and general education. Early field experiences will reflect the diversity of age and grade levels. Candidates will complete the required 200 total hours of supervised early fieldwork.
May not be audited.
