SPEC 659 - Assessments & the IEP

This course addresses the legal and ethical practices of special education assessments and Individualized Education Program documents that delineate a Free Appropriate Public Education in the Least Restrictive Environment, as well as promotes an understanding of the ethical, moral, and theological implications of developing a comprehensive classroom management plan. The candidate will utilize case studies to administer assessments, analyze and evaluate student data, and write legally defensible IEPs. Candidates will observe and identify student behavior that impedes learning, conduct a Functional Behavior Assessment, write an anecdotal report, and develop a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) as well.
