COUN 750D - Cross-Cultural Counseling: Experiential

Credits 1.5

Recommended prior coursework: COUN-724. This involves a three-stage process. First, the encounter of diverse cultures, social classes, and models of ministry in an international location. Second, the exchange of ideas, worldviews, and perceptions. Third, the embrace of cultures and varying approaches to holistic healing and care.  This course is an intensive experience, combining site visits, community living, interviews, debriefing, group discussion, reading, journaling, and integrative writing. It provides a rich context for self-examination and clinical preparation. The course utilizes various locations and may be centered in the Fresno/Clovis area, the greater Central San Joaquin Valley, or the Bay Area. Travel to locations arranged by Fresno Pacific University is required. While travel usually occurs within California, travel outside the state could occur. An additional fee is required for this course.
