Preliminary Administrative Services Credential

Program Director: Doug Bartsch, M.A.

This program prepares candidates to be student-centered, ethical, and effective leaders in California schools and school districts.   The program meets California requirements to be eligible for the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential and service in administrative positions in grades Pre-K-12/Adult school systems.

Fresno Pacific University Education Unit's Mission

Fresno Pacific University's Education Unit seeks to prepare educators whose calling is to be scholars, peacemakers, professionals, and leaders who carry out the beliefs of the Fresno Pacific University Idea in their diverse educational settings.

The Fresno Pacific Idea

The Fresno Pacific Idea reflects the university's interpretation of what it means to be a community of learners committed to a distinctive vision of Christian higher education. The Idea serves as a center for reflection and action and as a guide for forming a vision of the future. Rooted in the past and continuously re-shaped by the present, the Idea provides a foundation for the university's understanding of itself and of the mission to which it is called.

Program Overview

The program competencies of the preliminary credential are clustered into a series of six courses and three fieldwork experiences. The coursework scope and sequence are developed to provide a balance between theory and practice. The fieldwork interfaces with the California Administrator Assessment (CalAPA) and relates directly to the concepts and skills appropriate to a particular course. The fieldwork projects deal with actual, on-site work of school administrators.

This 24 unit program leads to a certificate of eligibility (24 units) or a preliminary administrative services credential (if the candidate is offered a position requiring an administrative services credential).
