PPC 740 - Field Experience in School Counseling I

This course consists of fieldwork experience in California public schools under the supervision of a Credentialed School Counselor.  This course will meet weekly for 1 ½ hours with a faculty member. Candidates must also articulate and provide an individualized self-care plan to ensure long-term wellness and professionalism to successfully cope with high stress situations in this course.  Fieldwork experiences integrate theoretical training with practical experience by providing an opportunity for candidates to perform, under supervision, the function of school counselors in all school counseling performance expectations (SCPE) areas. Candidates are required to complete a minimum of eight hundred (800) clock hours in two of three school levels such as elementary, middle, high school with a minimum of two hundred (200) clock hours within each level. Completion of hours and competency in all SCPE areas must be met to be recommended for credentialing.
