Recommended prior coursework: MATH-205, MATH-206L, and MATH-220. Brief overview of descriptive statistics, basic probability theory, counting methods, Bayes' theorem and applications. Discrete and continuous random variables and their respective distributions, expected values, variance, the central limit theorem. Joint probability distributions, covariance and correlation. Inferential statistics, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing, introduction to analysis of variance. Linear regression and correlation, nonlinear and multiple regression.
