WILD 300 - Wilderness and the Liberal ArtsCredits 3 Designed to serve as the "common core" curriculum for the Summer Sierra Program, this course includes exploration of theological as well as philosophical and literary ideas about wilderness, "creation," the natural world, and human relationships to them. Readings include contemporary environmental theologians, philosophical ethicists, and literary texts, as well as historically significant thinkers such as Thoreau, Muir, Abbey, and Leopold, and other ecocritical and environmental texts through a variety of other disciplinary lenses. The course will form the theological basis of a General Education Focus Series, which may be paired with a variety of Sierra course offerings.
