Field study of geologic features and processes. Classification of rocks, visiting various geological sites, use of topographic and geological maps, oceanographic sampling and techniques, climactic patterns, meteorological measurements, and the use of an astronomical telescope. This course fulfills the general education laboratory requirement in the natural sciences. Field trips may include destinations such as the Sierra Nevada, coast ranges, Death Valley and the central California coast. When this course is offered as an online laboratory, individual options for self-guided field trips or virtual field trips maybe utilized. Laboratory, 45 hours. Lab fee.
