BIOL 346 - Clinical HematologyCredits 3 This course covers the diagnosis and management of blood cell disorders, anatomy and physiology of hematopoiesis, routine specialized hematology tests, analysis, classification, and monitoring of blood cell abnormalities. The course will also introduce the purpose and performance of clinical laboratory tests related to the enumeration and identification of the cellular elements of blood, primarily red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. In addition, it will present the clinical importance of the identification and reporting of blood cell abnormalities to assist physicians with patient hematological disease diagnosis. This course is designed for those needing a hematology prerequisite for Clinical Laboratory Scientist programs or other pre-health science programs. Lecture, 45 hours.
