Examines the social, cultural, religious, political and economic changes in the history of the United States of America during the nineteenth century. Covers the rise of American democracy, political parties, the frontier in American life, the experience of First Nations peoples, religious innovations, reform movements, slavery, the Civil War, Reconstruction, immigration, urbanization, the Gilded Age and Populism.
Prerequisite: Take 1 course from subject History (HIST)
