HIST 450 - History of Political Theory and Ideas

Recommended prior coursework: PHIL 100   Recommended prior coursework: PHIL-100. Survey of political theorizing and the development of ideas on politcal order from ancient Greece, Rome and China, Jewish and Christian theology, Medieval thinkers and the development of early-modern and modern political philosophy. Readings include Plato, Aristotle, Han Fei Tzu, biblical authors, medieval philosophers, Locke, Hobbes, Marx and American political philosophers.
Prerequisite: HIST-120, HIST-130, HIST-140
