HIST 462 - Historiography

This course undertakes a study of the development of historical perspectives, theories and writings that have shaped our understanding of the historical discipline from earliest times to the present. It includes critical analysis of the definition, purposes and methods of the historical profession. The course involves primary source research and writing, analysis of a logic of historical thought, the impact of Christianity on historical thinking, examination of the current state of the historical profession and the formation of a personal philosophy of history. Prerequisite: one upper division history course.
