BIB 453 - Biblical Perspectives for Technology Services

Credits: 3
Recommended prior coursework: BIB 314. This course is a unique blend of study in the Bible with an eye toward key aspects related to being "the people of God." As such, it is neither strictly Bible survey, nor merely a topics course. Specific passages have been selected to promote improvement of skills for reading and understanding the bible (the act of interpretation). Choices have been made to cover a range of literature, styles and time periods, and are representative of other larger blocks of biblical material. Texts have also been choosen to correspond to topics key to understanding the dynamics of community living and to consideration of service in addressing problems in the world with these texts and contexts. Topics explored include humanity, community beginning, ordering, service, fragmentation, coherence and power. Both textual and topical aspects need to be kept in creative tension. Skills, creative thinking and application are all equally a goal.
Degree completion only. May not be audited.
